IBA Book 8: City and Migration
January 2009
Volume 8 in the series "The other cities“ focuses on the issue city and migration.
Migration was and is the “norm” in cities and societies. Transcending the frequently heated debates of the day, the articles shed light on fundamental aspects of migration, global migration flows, figures and data as well as the influence of migration on German culture. Which migrant milieus live in Germany, and why are the ethnic categories so inadequate? What makes the younger generation “tick”? What could the next steps in the learning process be? Bearing in mind that migration could cushion the after effects of demographic change and urban shrinkage, Volume 8 of the IBA Urban Redevelopment 2010 adds another factual and objective contribution to the debate.
