9. Shrinking cities are an international phenomenon:
To organise and mediate urban redevelopment in the global context.
- Urban redevelopment is an epochal task of the East German cities, but one also faced by many other cities in and outside of Europe. The “shrinking city” is an international theme which must be debated comparatively within a world-wide forum of discussion and experiment.
- Urban redevelopment raises new questions and establishes new fields of research in the areas of urban technology, economics and culture; these must be tackled in an atmosphere of international exchange.
- The know-how of “Urban Redevelopment East” develops ideas for regionally and internationally marketable solutions..
