IBA Principles
August 2002, Guidelines of the Cabinet regarding the setup of the IBA Stadtumbau 2010
5. Every city has its own path of development:
To identify the qualities of our cities and organise them within the regional city network.
- Every city defines its own development perspectives before the background of its historical configuration, marking its position in the city network of Saxony-Anhalt and beyond. Chances for consolidation and development stem from endogenous potentials and the city’s regional significance.
- Differences in the resources and development of environments present opportunities for diverse ways of life: characteristic regional differences should not be abolished; their dynamics should be increased productively.
- The definition of city typologies is directed towards clear contours and attractive environmental configurations of cities in the region, the municipalities adjust plans for leading concepts and the development of modernisation strategies according to these.
